Welcome Bachelor of Health and Physical Education students! Thank you for choosing us and our families.
The HOW-TO guide to S.M.I.L.E.
Although there isn't one single way to utilize our services, the below may provide some guidance if you're not quite sure where to start or what to expect.
BROWSE THE SITE
You may be impressed by all that you'll read.
We realize that most people find it hard to find the time to call during business hours with questions, so we attempted to make our website as informative as possible and one where most of parents' questions will be answered. Have a browse around.
AT THE APPOINTMENT
We get down to business
Because our aim is to spend as much as possible of your time with us on receiving direct treatment for your child, all medical and other information will be collected from you prior to the appointment (usually during the booking process). Our therapists will review that information ahead of time, and be ready to work with your child as soon as you arrive. If the parent chooses to observe the appointment, ask questions, take photos/videos, they're most welcome. All of our staff have consented to being photographed/filmed. However, if you prefer to step away to catch up on emails or have a coffee, we welcome parents to enjoy our Lounge. We can always get you caught up on your home-therapy program once you're back.
We're not done with you yet ;)
If you'd like to stick around after your appointment, we're in no rush for you to leave. There are our Lounge facilities furnished with supportive seating and small snacks for our hard working kiddos. There is also a changing and nursing area, as well as a sensory room, in case your child would like to pop in there to recharge. Feel free to hang out and enjoy the facilities until you and your child are ready to hit the road. If you've scheduled multiple appointments in one day, you're also welcome to utilize the common spaces in between appointments. In fact, that is exactly what they are there for :).
BECOME A REGULAR
Intensive early intervention is key!
As most special-needs parents are already aware, achievement of big goals for kids with disabilities requires intensive, regular and ongoing therapy. We welcome families to book in for weekly standing appointments and/or intensives so that we can help continue to progress your child on an ongoing basis.
SMILE Recipe for Success
Below is an idea of how to structure your child's therapy to get the most optimal results.
Conduct your child's home therapy program at home or utilize our communal space. If you'd rather have someone else take over for a day or regularly, our therapy assistants are at your service.LEARN ABOUT OUR COMMUNAL SPACE USE PROGRAM
For optimal results, have our expert therapists see your child weekly. This will give them an opportunity to push your child to his/her limits, and also continuously tweak the child's home program for optimal results. LEARN ABOUT OUR DIFFERENT THERAPIES
See us for a Therapy Intensive. It is often during Therapy Intensives that big breakthroughs happen and developmental momentum builds. These breakthroughs can then be more deeply ingrained through the regular therapy that happens in between intensives. LEARN ABOUT INTENSIVE THERAPY
